View the budget graph. The enormous size of the City’s budget is the single most important issue in the Mayoral election. It is important to understand what the budget was under Lorenzo Langford, Bob Levy, Jim Whelan, & the budget proposed by Mayor Scott Evans.

Jesse, another great digup. As anyone can see, the budget went up dramatically under Langford, who really never cared about that, it was all positioning of friends and allies in do-nothing jobs as fast as possible for maximum patronage, yet, services went down remarkably, crime rose. One of the visable changes during his time was the filthy condition of Atlantic Ave., it looked like a city in, say, Yemen, and another: Hundreds of hookers on Pacific Ave., there’s always hookers, but during that time, hundreds came and settled with little fear of interference from police. During Levy’s sad short term, budget down, streets clean, hookers began to diminish. Now? One would hope with the big political payoff Speedy Marsh gave the police, that there would be a drop in crime, and perception of danger from crime. Time will tell.
