Councilman G. Bruce Ward is a proponent of wind energy in Atlantic City. Read his press release on the subject. The City would do well to promote alternative energy. City government can encourage alternative energy development by relaxing regulations on city property. Unfortunately, most politicians only think action can occur when they spend our tax dollars.
The Councilman proposes the creation of another municipal authority, the Alternative Energy Authority. A new agency will raise the city budget, which will increase taxes. City government needs to be reduced, not increased in size. Also, alternative energy can be promoted with creating another branch of government. Do we not have enough government agencies in New Jersey?
Keep an eye on Councilman Ward’s proposal. Encourage the Councilman to promote alternative energy development without using tax dollars. Let developers use their own money. I explore this topic in detail in my upcoming September City Beat column in Casino Connection.
Here is Councilman G. Bruce Ward’s powerpoint proposal.
