The Press of Atlantic City reports:
Mayor Lorenzo Langford’s second meeting of casino executives, public officials and business leaders to plan the future of Atlantic City is under way at City Hall.
We can only hope that this or some of the other soon-to-be myriad summits produces an upswing in Atlantic City’s economy and quality of government.
My first suggestion is to get the City’s finances under control. It is yet another case of the blind leading the blind, when the man responsible (Lorenzo Langford) to what will be between a $20 million and $57 million budget deficit [read - hole, gaping hole] starts giving financial advice to anyone.
You can read Michael Clark’s account that the City will have up to a $35 million budget shortfall.
The solution is very simple, CUT Spending. Drastically, cut spending! Maybe, just maybe, as the Chinese have the year of the Rat, Dragon, etc… Atlantic City elected officials will dress-up and pretend it is the year of the Fiscal Conservative.
