A Republican to Lead Them

mcqueen.jpg    A Republican has plunged in to the Mayoral campaign in Atlantic City.  John McQueen, Jr. has announced his candidacy for the Republican Mayoral nomination.  We will be interviewing all of the Mayoral candidates – assuming that they are brave enough to answer our questions.  Here is Mr. McQueen’s press release.

Those of us who have chosen to remain here in Atlantic City, and those who call Atlantic City home are a great people who reside in a unique city.   We reside in a city which is as diverse as the stars in the heavens above, and in this diversity there are certain commonalities which bind us to one another.   We all have a yearning for good, clean, and open government, clean and safe streets, and decreasing taxes to name a few.   Because of these ties which bind us, I believe in this election we can come together and bring about unparalleled economic, social and political change which will benefit us all in the present as well as future generations.   However in making these changes we must rid ourselves of the archaic thinking of the past and embark upon a path with sustainable and renewable results.
It is because of this faith and belief in the people of Atlantic City, I John W. McQueen Jr. announce on this 24th day of March 2008 that I will seek the Republican nomination for the office of Mayor of our great city.   I further pledge to devote all of my efforts, any talents which I may poses to bring dignity, honesty and integrity to this office and to the people of Atlantic City.
It is not my intention to appose any one man nor any one party but to offer new policies and a new direction for all.   Policies which will bring us together and a direction which over time will reduce our expenses and stimulate economic growth.
As your Mayor within the first one hundred days I will implement the first “Municipal Alternative Fuel Facility” this project alone will save us millions of dollars in energy costs, thus reducing and ultimately eliminating the energy cost which now burdens our tax payers.   I will immediately begin to work with our council to phase in the use of Hybrid vehicles which are more maneuverable on our narrow streets and will further decrease our expenses.
This is only a glimpse of our future and the future is bright if we are willing to make a commitment to change.
Across this country of ours there is  train which is moving through every city and every state and this train is called change and its heading to Atlantic City, and the conductor of that train is a Republican.

About Jesse O. Kurtz

I am committed to fulfilling the promise of Atlantic City. The town would benefit from greater political participation by average citizens. Hopefully, some of the posts herein will encourage you to get more involved in your community. This blog will also feature other topics and subjects beyond Atlantic City. I hope that you will come to love Atlantic City as much, or more than I do.

  1. The guy seems like an acceptable alternative to the imbeciles he would be running against, but the issue of sensible fuel to fuel the hundreds of self-given cars for the leeches to use is a hollow one. If his position was to get rid of the hopelessly inept, corrupt council, then maybe he would be interesting. The present government in Atlantic was, is and will ruin that city and my advice to John McQueen and the holder of this web site is to pack up and run away from there as fast as you can. All the city needs to do to finish itself off is to elect Lorenzo Langford to be it’s mayor. If your property has any value right now, I would sell, relocate, get away from these idiots.

  2. I’ve heard this guy on the radio. He seems well intended, but the fuel thing is atomicly tiny in the face of a council of morons who have done nothing but wrong with every action. They are the very definiton of corrupt and self-serving, and the candidate’s fuel efforts will only serve to keep the fleet of wasted vehicles growing. Evans and Langford have a vote organization to defeat any real election which makes change impossible. I would just start making my plans to leave.

  3. I agree somewhat with the posters below, but I do have a sliver of hope now that council proposed cutting the budget $10 million last week. But I see they’re already pulling back on that demand and we’ll still probably have a tax increase, yet again.

And they continue to warn of massive tax increases due to the reval, which is lunacy. The city is getting revaled, up “up-valed”…. This should not mean an overall increase in the city budget, but once they play with the numbers, you can guarantee that it will.

I’d like to see McQueen elected, but a Republican has no chance in AC. But remember, Mayor Usry was a Republican…..

  4. A Republican whose main thrust is his own envirormental business? What kind of Republican is that? What about the the Republican platforms of fiscal responsibility and limited government? This guy does not seem much different than the circus already in city hall.
