Looming Specter of Craig Callaway

I take on the fascination with Craig Callaway in my July Casino Connection column.  There is still a great deal of respect for Mr. Callaway’s ability to amass political power.  My column looks at Atlantic City’s political power landscape.  There were some lessons learned from June’s primary election.

Craig Callaway did not run for elected office last month. Yet Craig Callaway has been discussed as often as any candidate who vied in June’s mayoral primary. Why is Callaway—sitting in federal prison, hundreds of miles away—such a focal point for Atlantic City political discourse?

About Jesse O. Kurtz

I am committed to fulfilling the promise of Atlantic City. The town would benefit from greater political participation by average citizens. Hopefully, some of the posts herein will encourage you to get more involved in your community. This blog will also feature other topics and subjects beyond Atlantic City. I hope that you will come to love Atlantic City as much, or more than I do.

  1. Good column in a great magazine….

You can never underestimate this creep. His thugs are still running City Hall as long as Evans is in charge. He’s only got 3 years left in prison and you know he’s going to be hailed as a conquering hero when he returns. Hopefully, we’ll have some ethical leaders in AC by then who will do what is necessary to remove all the infection spread throughout government by the Callaway Clan.

  2. yes, what we need to do is eliminate all black people from goverment, wait we can’t do that. How about if we just eliminate people who you think are bad for the city, or if anyone is seen taking with the Callaway outlaws we can exclude them. Do you see how stupid your argument has become!

  3. You are the one who made it racial. There are many fine residents of AC of all races. You are the stupid one, but of course you don’t even live in AC, so what do you know?

  5. “Callaway had come to dominate the all-Democrat city government. His network of family and friends mastered the technique of soliciting and collecting absentee ballots in poor neighborhoods.”

Message in there somewhere. As long as poor people believe they can vote themselves free money, corrupt Democrats will continue to win elections.
