The unpopular Governor Jon Corzine paid a visit to Democrat Mayoral candidate Lorenzo Langford. Michael Clark reports:
ATLANTIC CITY – There are three candidates running in this fall’s special election for mayor. Only one of them received a private visit from Democratic Gov. Jon S. Corzine Thursday.
Corzine met with former Mayor Lorenzo Langford for more than 40 minutes at his Atlantic Avenue headquarters Thursday between public appearances at the Sheraton Hotel and the Trump Taj Mahal.
Langford, the Democratic nominee for mayor, said the two met “just to get reacquainted,” but he declined to comment on any of the issues they discussed.
Mr. Langford has the advantage of Atlantic City’s heavy Democrat voter registration. The Achilles Heel for New Jersey Democrats is their immensely unpopular Governor. Mr. Langford would do well to make this his last visit with the Governor, at least until after November.
Joseph Polillo has a great comment regarding the meeting between the two Democrats.
Independent candidate Joseph Polillo was not phased once he got word of the meeting.
“His (approval) ratings are down,” Polillo said of Corzine. “I guess they make a good team then.”
