The Big Fix

We invite both the Polillo and Langford campaigns to submit press releases to The Atlantic City Scoop.   Here is the latest from John McQueen.

DON’T TALK ABOUT IT,
BE ABOUT IT

John McQueen for ATLANTIC CITY

Vote John McQueen for Mayor November 4th!

Back in July I was riding around the City thinking about the difficulties facing the next Mayor. This is still an amazing town, but with the proper leadership, we have the potential to become a great American City. The leadership I speak of is not just the Mayor. I’m talking about our Community. Atlantic City can have the resources to become a State, National and or International leader in so many ways. So, let’s talk about “THE BIG FIX”,
The Big Fix is a Municipal Action Plan. The purpose of this plan is to immediately move Atlantic City towards an effective and efficient model of good City Government that not only serves the people, but is productive, and keeps the City in a constant state of growth. I believe that The Big Fix and the subsequent amendments to that plan will not only make this town a better place to live and work in, but will also lift the clouds of corruption, skepticism and distrust that has plagued our City for so long. where we invite you to ask questions, make comments and offer suggestions.
Next, I want to speak on another matter. I tried to bite my tongue on this one, but I just can’t. Now keep in mind, I’m a firm believer in the virtue of listening. I believe that the best way to address the issues is to know the issues. Listen to this, I recently heard a Candidate answer a concerned citizen by saying, “Just elect me to Mayor and I’ll show you what I can do!” How could anyone running for Mayor, fix his mouth to say something so irresponsible? Furthermore, how could any reasonable person even consider voting for someone that would offer such a non-answer? But then I remembered, these elections can so easily turn into everything from a Popularity Contest to Who Has The Most Sign’s, Posters and Extravagant Campaign Headquarters Contest. You know what I’m talking about, the old WHOEVER SPENDS THE MOST MONEY WINS routine. Which would suggest that the MAYOR’S OFFICE IS FOR SALE and that the CAMPAIGN PROCESS IS MERELY AN AUCTION.

Whatever happened to serving the citizens of Atlantic City? THIS ELECTION CANNOT BECOME A SALES ITEM. If we allow a man to buy the Mayor’s Office, what are we saying? What kind of message are we communicating to our State, County and above all else, to ourselves? This election must be about the issues and the Candidates should be people of substance. And if they are not people of purpose with realistic plans and concrete examples, if they speak in general terms with no sense of urgency, if they appear to have some misguided notion and focus on one area or group of people, don’t even consider them. Just tell them and their friends “I’M NOT INTERESTED, KEEP IT MOVIN!”

Sincerely,
John McQueen
Mayoral Candidate
Atlantic City, NJ

About Jesse O. Kurtz

I am committed to fulfilling the promise of Atlantic City. The town would benefit from greater political participation by average citizens. Hopefully, some of the posts herein will encourage you to get more involved in your community. This blog will also feature other topics and subjects beyond Atlantic City. I hope that you will come to love Atlantic City as much, or more than I do.
